TaFf at a Glance

FORMATION of TaFf
The Textile and Fashion Federation (TaFf) was formed through a coalition of the textile and
garment associations in 1981. Singapore's textile and garment industry has since then
transformed from a manufacturing base to be a regional fashion, marketing and sourcing
hub. Many garment manufacturers have relocated their production out of Singapore.

1. OBJECTIVES of TaFf


To support in:

to educate and provide guidance which would encourage industry to safeguard, add
value to their products and raise standards


to expose the ASEAN region and beyond to Singapore textile and fashion apparel design


to provide information for local manufacturers on where in the ASEAN region and
beyond to source for materials


to provide a platform for Singapore designers and brands to display and sell their designs


to encourage different sectors in the textile and apparel supply chain to become more
cost effective logistically

2. NETWORKING:
Regular meetings afford an opportunity for members to meet one another, exchange
experiences, make important business contacts, build rapport and establish business ties.

Through participation in regional meetings, members also get to meet other ASEAN
counterparts.

3. COMMUNICATION:
Monthly newsletters, circulars and other memos keeps members informed of the
Federation's activities, introduces new members and provides timely information to the
industry.

4. INDUSTRY VOICE:
TaFf provides a vital link for all its members in exerting influence on regulations and
legislation affecting the industry.

5. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:
Regular programmes featuring knowledgeable speakers who conduct seminars and courses
on topics such as fashion trends & forecasts, apparel merchandising and quality control.
Additionally, special programmes provide in-depth education and training in important
aspects of the fashion industry and international trade.

6. PROMOTE THE INDUSTRY:

  • Organise members to participate in international trade exhibitions, fashion shows
    and road shows
  • Organise the yearly Singapore Fashion Week event together with International
    Enterprise Singapore and other government agencies
  • Organise trade missions to explore overseas markets
  • Organise special projects to raise profile of Singapore brands and designers
  • Provide business matching opportunities to members
  • Organise industry and market studies to provide members with valuable information
  • Organise contests such as Singapore Fashion Designers Contest (SFDC), Asian Young
    Fashion Designers Contest (AYFDC) and School Connexion (SC). This provides a
    platform for the up-and-coming young students/designers careers
