INTERVIEW WITH K.BLU SWIM

Hi Lyn! Have you always been a designer? If not, what was your previous profession?

No, I was in banking prior to starting my own swim label. I was covering asset managers, central banks and hedge funds portfolio managers and servicing them in foreign exchange products.

Why did you choose to venture into swimwear?

I had used to be very sportive and involved in seaports. Back in those days, e-commerce hasn’t developed yet and getting swimwear was very difficult given the cups and torso length doesn’t often fit to my body. So the right idea was put into action plan when I have the opportunity to do so.

What is your personal favorite piece from your entire collection/production?

I like my one pieces the most. Given how women are usually sensitive to their body shapes, and not all of us enjoy sun tanning as much, I prefer the elegance in one pieces – and that could cleverly camouflage my after birth body imperfections.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

I get my inspirations usually from the sea and the places I have been. I typically love prints personally.

What are your plans for the brand in the future?

I like to invoke a lifestyle/resort brand in Asia, whereby most women would feel more confident wearing the swimwear/resort wear. Also at the same time, to share these Asian-inspired designs to International platforms such as America and Europe.

How have you/your brand benefited from Taff’s membership programmes?

Yes, the networking sessions have been great!
