This year marks Singapore Bicentennial where we celebrate the 200th anniversary of Raffles’ arrival in Singapore in 1819. This formed the turning point that set Singapore on a new trajectory. Celebrating the Bicentennial is an opportunity for us to delve deep into our history and customs.
The commemoration is an opportunity for us to reflect on the traits that are embedded in the Singaporean DNA – openness, multiculturalism and self-determination.
The 2nd edition of Singapore stories therefore focuses on Singapores Bicentennial and challenges our home-grown creatives to develop fashion designs that reflects the rich heritage of the country.
Create a design that reflects the rich heritage of Singapore via your specific medium or discipline.
The design should highlight the growth and development of Singapore since her founding as a centre of commerce and a strategic military outpost of the British Empire that Raffles presciently saw as part of Singapore’s geopolitical importance.
Consider how your designs may come to life via form of your apparels/accessories.
